| The Admiral's Park Avenue Bed & Breakfast in Galena |
Looking for a wonderful place for a weekend getaway?
We recommend Galena, Illinois, a town spreading out over wooded hillsides near the Mississippi River in the northwest corner of Illinois.
Our son Richard plays defensive outside linebacker on the Wheaton College football team. This past Saturday, his team traveled to Platteville, Wisconsin to play the Pioneers of the University of Wisconsin at Platteville. My husband Tim and I, along with Tim's mother NormaW, followed the team there, but along the way we stopped to gallivant in Galena, IL, hometown of President Ulysses S. Grant.

We stayed at the Admiral's Park Avenue Bed & Breakfast, an 1893 Queen Anne style home owned by Sharon Fallbacker.

Filled with beautiful antiques, every room was a delight to our eyes.

Tim and I were comfortably ensconced in the "Helen" room.

Galena's other attractions also beckoned. I'll share more about our gallivants in Galena in later posts this week.
